Is It Gay For Men To Wear Makeup?

men way seems to have follwed gay culture in the last few dacades ie gay men in the 1990s would shave their chests/pluck all pilus, whereas the bulk of straight population would not. fast forward 20 years and now pretty much most males shave/wax their chests and also now started plucking eyebrows. will the adjacent step be that straight men start adopting in their culture wearing foundation, makeup , eyeliner, than many gay men do currently?

I know a a few gay people and NONE wear makeup.

Do 'most' men shave/wax their chests? Actually? That seems a piffling flake made up. There's a very small handful who do that, but I'd say 95% don't do and then going by what you can see for yourself on any beach in the summer.

I don't know any gay men who article of clothing makeup either if I'm honest, and I know a lot of gay men.

Despite this, I do think male makeup is slightly more socially accustomed now, but I call up that'due south been led more by pop culture (various musicians/actors seem to be makeup fans, especially eyeliner, and obviously any pirate will adopt a flake of Jack Sparrow eyeliner these days) than by sexuality.

Do 'almost' men shave/wax their chests? Really? That seems a trivial flake made upwardly. There'south a very small scattering who do that, but I'd say 95% don't exercise so going by what you tin see for yourself on whatever embankment in the summertime.

well i wasnt talking nigh pirates  i may not see as many gay men every bit you, but the ones i did clearly wear heart liner/foundation at the very least. and i have been on 3 holidays last summer and all the males around where blatnently breast waxers- at that place is no doubtign that has become the cultural norm for men, as well as portrayed in media. so and then if they can adopt one gay habit, why not makeup?

(Original post past WC2011)
if they can prefer one gay habit, why not makeup?

Do you remember straight men will also start copying gay men by sleeping with men too?

Because that'south the simply REALLY gay addiction in that location is.

Exercise you think direct men will also kickoff copying gay men by sleeping with men likewise?

I don't know whatsoever gay men who wear makeup either if I'm honest, and I know a lot of gay men.

Despite this, I practice think male person makeup is slightly more socially accustomed at present, only I retrieve that'southward been led more by pop culture (various musicians/actors seem to be makeup fans, especially eyeliner, and obviously any pirate will adopt a scrap of Jack Sparrow eyeliner these days) than past sexuality.

In my yr alot of people shave everywhere i questioned them in the changing room (no homo) and the respond i got was 'who doesn't?'
I also now some males who put on i retrieve its called foundation. But my point is today's society is more relaxed about the social conventions regarding what a human should or shouldn't do same with females.

then men saving their chests for cosmetic reasons was not originally a gay habit?

I'd argue that men shaving for corrective reasons (like women shaving/waxing their genitals) has been encouraged and popularised by the porn industry actually

And that implying that camp or effeminate is synonymous to gay is dismissive of large numbers of gay men.

And to imply that mainstream credence of men wearing makeup would be a new affair would demonstrate a substantial ignorance of history (as recent equally the 80s as well as further dorsum in fourth dimension).

till the early 80s, the straight porn industry was still very hairy, certianly for men chests. its was in the 1990s that gay style of men shaving chests came nearly. its was a look that lots of early boybands of 90s copied ie did you lot now Have \that frist tried to appeal to gay marketplace . campness is another affair entirely, and not all gay men , but again, campness didnt exist in straight civilization, information technology was a gay thing that came into mainstream society

This post is so full of stereotypes and somebody who has clearly not plenty knowledge on the gay male person community that information technology is hilarious.

First off: Homosexuality means being intimately interested solely in members of your own gender. Information technology does not decide what y'all wear, the music you like, what you do in your spare time etc.

Speaking as a member of the LGBT community myself, not all of us live up to your generalisations/misunderstandings about usa. I don't really care if I take a hairy chest, equally long as I'chiliad healthy and look presentable.

As for make-upwards, that'southward a whole different ball-game altogether. Loads of guys wear information technology nowadays. Excessive amounts of information technology existence worn, then in that location is a take chances that the person is transvestite. Transvestitism is a gender topic and nothing to exercise with orientation. Take you too considered that some men just vesture information technology for fancy clothes for a one-off? That does happen you know. Personally, I hate make up as it makes your skin oily and greasy, and over time it tin can and Will historic period your skin. A lot of women will agree with me on that.

the HUGE HUGE Bulk of us are non gay.

I don't think anyone was disputing that.

noone of that changes the fact that originally waxing chests and wearing cosmetic make-upwards was never a culturally accpeted directly male practice

(Original postal service by PQ)

Because that's the merely Actually gay addiction there is.

Truth!

In that location is nothing inherently "gay" about makeup. Nor is there necessarily anything "womanly" most a gay homo.

Too, the amount of men who wax hairy areas is however nowhere about a majority. Women didn't remove their pubic hair until the concluding few decades, either - It'southward just more services and products being popularised to sell to united states as time goes on.

Men wait more like women everyday

You practice realise that many Ancient males wore make-upward? Such as the Ancient Egyptians (specially Pharaohs). Were they following "gay culture" or is your logic just pretty idiotic?

As we become less of a stereotypically gender divided society, what was previously the reserve of men or women may at present be shared across the sexes. Are women who potable beer post-obit lesbian civilization? Or is it just another example of a blurring of gender stereotypes as gender equality increases?

Your ignorance of history is astounding.
