What Type Of Variable Is Required When Drawing A​ Time-series Plot?
In the Time Series Plot dialog box, complete the following steps to specify the data for your graph. If your data are arranged differently than described below, go to Choose a fourth dimension serial plot.
- In Y variables, enter the columns of time-ordered numeric data that you want to graph.
- (Optional) In Time scale labels, you can specify a column of labels for the x-axis. The label column should contain 1 characterization value for each interval on the x-centrality.
- Under Display, specify whether to display the variables as overlapping series (Start all at the aforementioned fourth dimension) or as consecutive stages (Plot in sequent stages).
- Instance for Start all at the same fourth dimension

A technician counts the number of parts that are produced on ii different machines each twenty-four hour period and records the data in the columns Machine ane and Car 2. These columns are the Y variables. The technician also enters the dates in the Date labels column to use as the time scale labels.
Because each row represents the aforementioned day, the technician chooses First all at the aforementioned time. The graph shows the number of parts that were produced on each machine each day.

A manager tracks the number of calls that sales representatives receive each day during ii stages of an advertising entrada and records the data in the columns Stage i and Phase 2. These columns are the Y variables. The manager also enters the dates in the Date labels column to use as the time scale labels.
Considering the stage 1 data was collected before stage 2 data, the manager chooses Plot in consecutive stages. The graph shows that the number of calls that were received each day during both phases of the campaign.
